Defining and Managing Chemicals ''At-Risk''
Occasionally, Rinchem's clients who store their product in Rinchem facilities have products determined to be "at risk" of becoming hazardous or non-hazardous waste. These products require dispositions other than those originally intended.
At Risk Inventory Management material is defined as product that is:
- Short-dated material, based on shelf life (i.e. within 90 days of expiration)
- Out-of-specification
- Out-of-FIFO (first in, first out) lots
- Not purchased or accepted by the customer for which it was manufactured
- Material from the warehouse that is damaged
Rinchem's At Risk Inventory Management program offers clients cost-effective and comprehensive services. The solution offers clients; 1) notification by Rinchem that their product
is about to become at risk, 2) Rinchem searches for alternative, beneficial uses of the inventory, 3) Rinchem fully coordinates a disposition that will either consume or dispose
of the chemical in a manner that is compliant with regulations, and is as environmentally sound solution as possible, and 4) Rinchem then reports to the client what the final
disposition of the material was. Upon written or emailed notification by a client to Rinchem, we will specifically:
- Complete the material profile(s) and obtain MSDS(s)
- Initiate an inventory checklist to guide and track the process of determining the product disposition
- Price the management service for specific materials that have been determined to be "at risk" of becoming hazardous or non-hazardous waste
- Assist the client to complete documentation enabling the transfer of ownership of material from the client to Rinchem
- Ship inventory from its current location to the appropriate Rinchem designated facility (if determined to be advantageous)
- Store inventory in an appropriate warehouse until the disposition or expiration
Customer benefits include:
- Rinchem, as the owner of the inventory takes responsibility for all regulatory reporting which can be complex and difficult
- Rinchem’s interaction with a broad spectrum of chemical manufacturers and end-users provides the contacts to explore a wide variety of potentially beneficial dispositions other than declaring the material a waste
- If the material is sold for another use, Rinchem will share with the client on a 50⁄50 basis any net gain it receives from a sale of the material
