Freight market’s ‘holding pattern’ continues in July

In July, the freight market remained in a "holding pattern" despite ongoing expansion in logistics activity, according to the Logistics Managers’ Index (LMI) report. The LMI stood at 59.2—down 1.5 points from June—while transportation capacity showed modest growth at 52.6, signaling continued expansion but limited momentum. At the same time, transportation utilization (59.5) and pricing (average of 63.2) rose notably, suggesting the market recovery is being driven more by rising demand and rates than by capacity increases. Inventory levels declined overall, though smaller firms and upstream companies reported rising stock, and warehouse prices held firm amid tight conditions.
