Global Semiconductor Sales Increase 15.8% from Q2 to Q3; Month-to-Month Sales Grow 7.0% in September
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reports that global semiconductor sales reached US $208.4 billion in Q3 2025, marking a strong rebound of 15.8% compared to Q2. Demand was boosted across a variety of chip types—particularly memory and logic—and saw robust year-over-year growth in the Asia-Pacific, Americas and China regions. In September alone, monthly sales rose 7.0% from August and hit US $69.5 billion, continuing the upward momentum.

Air cargo rates fall as top trade lanes see ‘subdued’ peak season
Global air-cargo spot rates continued to decline in October, reaching US $2.58 per kilogram — down 3 % year-over-year — as reported by Xeneta. Although volumes did grow (about 4 % YoY), supply rose even faster (around 5 %) and the traditionally strong peak-season trade lanes experienced only muted momentum, signalling ongoing softness in demand.

AI Tool Launched to Detect Misdeclared and Dangerous Goods in Containers
The World Shipping Council (WSC) has rolled out an AI-powered cargo screening tool as part of its Cargo Safety Program, designed to identify misdeclared or undeclared dangerous goods in shipping containers before loading. The tool uses machine learning, keyword scanning and trade-pattern recognition to monitor millions of booking records in real time, flagging high-risk shipments for inspection. Major carriers covering over 70 % of global TEU capacity have already signed on. Meanwhile, data from the Allianz Safety and Shipping Review 2025 show that misdeclared dangerous goods account for more than a quarter of all cargo-related incidents—and port state inspection data indicate 11.39 % of inspected containers in 2024 had deficiencies such as misdeclarations or improper packaging.
