Rinchem's newest Foreign-Trade Zone just opened at its Surprise, Arizona dangerous goods warehouse. The move allows Rinchem to support approved FTZ operations for eligible imported materials. This successful activation serves as the foundation for future FTZ capabilities across Rinchem’s global network.
What are Foreign Trade Zones?
Per the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website: Foreign-Trade Zones (FTZ) are secure areas under U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) supervision that are generally considered outside CBP territory upon activation. Located in or near CBP ports of entry, they are the United States' version of what are known internationally as free-trade zones.
For companies managing complex international supply chains, FTZs can provide important benefits, including duty deferral, improved inventory flexibility, and enhanced customs compliance.
Why FTZ Operations Require Specialized Infrastructure
