Global Semiconductor Sales Increase 4.7% Month-to-Month in October

Global semiconductor sales reached $72.7 billion in October 2025, marking a 4.7 % increase from September and 27.2 % growth from October 2024, as reported by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) using World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) data. The uplift was driven by strong demand across major regions—especially the Americas and Asia Pacific—while Japan was the only region with a year-over-year decline. SIA also highlighted an updated WSTS autumn forecast projecting annual global semiconductor sales to grow about 22.5 % to $772.2 billion in 2025 and approach nearly $1 trillion in 2026.

Why hybrid air–ocean networks are becoming the backbone of supply chain resilience

The article explains that global supply chains are increasingly relying on hybrid air–ocean logistics networks—which combine the strengths of both air and sea transport—to build resilience against disruptions like geopolitical volatility, regional manufacturing shifts, and capacity fluctuations. Instead of choosing between air or ocean freight, shippers and logistics providers are designing multimodal strategies that optimize cost, speed, and reliability, with digital interoperability and real-time visibility playing a central role in coordinating transitions between modes. Air cargo, once viewed mainly as a premium service, is now a key stabilizing component of integrated transport networks, especially for high-value and time-sensitive goods such as pharmaceuticals and chemicals. Overall, the shift toward hybrid routing reflects a broader move from mode-specific planning to network-centric logistics that can adapt dynamically to changing trade patterns and disruptions.
