Setting Ambitious Goals
Rinchem Company has solidified its commitment to sustainability by signing a commitment letter with the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI). By May 2024, Rinchem aims to set goals aligned with the best available scientific knowledge to ensure our operations are in line with a low-carbon future. This commitment reflects our dedication to fostering a greener supply chain.
Measuring and Reporting Progress
In collaboration with Keramida, a renowned environmental consultancy, Rinchem has completed its inaugural Sustainability Report, which will be published in the Fall of 2023. This comprehensive report will provide a transparent account of our sustainability performance, showcasing the steps we have taken to reduce our environmental impact and promote responsible business practices.
To ensure continuous improvement, Rinchem established an ESG Committee that regularly reviews and addresses ESG-related topics. The committee has generated a charter to guide its activities, enabling us to stay at the forefront of sustainability practices within the logistics industry.
Environmental Initiatives at Rinchem Warehouse
Solar
At our Marlborough, MA warehouse, we have installed solar panels, harnessing renewable energy to power our operations. Additionally, Rinchem has implemented a paperless transaction system through our custom online platform, Chem-Star®, minimizing our paper consumption and reducing waste.
Energy Efficiency
To enhance energy efficiency, we have embraced LED lighting and motion sensor technology in 19 facilities across the United States. Furthermore, we have made significant strides toward electrifying our forklift fleet, with 85% of Rinchem's forklifts now running on electric power. We also prioritize recycling initiatives by repurposing cardboard and pallets at our warehouse locations.

Emissions
As a Smartway Partner, Rinchem is committed to reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency in our transportation operations. We adhere to the California Air Resource Board (CARB) Compliance standards, ensuring that our vehicles meet the stringent environmental regulations set forth by the state.
Carbon Footprint
To minimize our carbon footprint, Rinchem employs a Just in Time (JIT) model, which enables us to bring in materials only as needed, avoiding excessive inventory and unnecessary transportation. Furthermore, we have incorporated automatic trucks into our fleet, reducing emissions and increasing miles per gallon.
Ethical Sourcing
Ethical sourcing is a key focus for Rinchem, exemplified by our partnership with IFF & FMS. We promote responsible business practices by supporting reverse logistics and encouraging the use of returnable totes and drums, thereby reducing waste and minimizing the disposal of plastics.
